I’ve been using the ELECOM screen protector for about a month now, and the matte finish hasn’t noticeably worn at all. I decided to purchase it and try it out anyway, and to my surprise it’s absolutely fantastic. There were 0 reviews on Amazon when I looked it up, but it was also just released a week before. I didn’t have much hope for it because it just seems like some random brand and I figured if it was good, more people would be recommending it. So I heard of Elecom on some apple forum where someone said they got this screen protector in Japan and it actually felt like real paper and it didn’t make the screen as grainy as others. But it’s also $8 so if you don’t care about the bubbles that much and you’re willing to buy another one every month or two, it’s a decent value. Again, it’s a matter of personal preference, but reading text on the screen was somewhat annoying.īasically, it’s not amazing. An additional downside is that the screen clarity is slightly worse than the Paperlike. But considering how quickly the paperlike wears out, iCarez only has this advantage for about a week of use. The only slight downside is it’s not initially as rough as the Paperlike. While the rough texture wore out a bit in 2 weeks, it still served it’s purpose by the time I switched to the Paperlike. It faces the same issues as the paperlike when it comes to dust and bubbles, but it did seem to last longer. It’s only $8 so you don’t have that much to lose. I ended up buying the iCarez a couple days after ordering the Paperlike and used that for two weeks before the “premium” screen protector arrived. It took 2.5 weeks for me to get the screen protectors in the mail, and the packaging was not protective in any way.
It’s just a terrible value.Īside from the actual product being awful, there’s one other huge issue with Paperlike. There were two noticeable ones due to a spec of dust under the protector and it just looked bad.
Additionally, the bubbles from the installation never disappeared. It comes down to whether you prioritize screen clarity vs writing. The screen is somewhat grainy due to the matte texture, but it’s not awful. There were scratches on the protector that make the ipad look worn under any direct light. After less than two weeks, my Apple Pencil was sliding around almost as much as without the screen protector at all. But it the rough texture diminishes very fast.
Sure, the Paperlike feels marginally more paper-like than the iCarez.
They supposedly feel much more like real paper and they last longer. Seems expensive, right? Well the argument is that they’re much better quality than the off-brand matte screen protectors you can find on amazon and whatnot. First off, it costs $30 for two protectors. I want to be fair to the company, but it’s so hard when they’ve disappointed me so much. I heard about them on some forum and decided to try them out. I’ve seen questions asked on reddit about them, but not many posts comparing the different options.ġ) Paperlike ($30) - the most common brand, not because of quality but because of tons of advertising and name recognitionĢ) iCarez ($8)- another common one that’s cheaper than the paperlikeģ) Elecom ($20) - some Japanese company that isn’t widely known in the US.
HOW TO REMOVE ICAREZ SCREEN PRO
Hey I figured I’d write a review of the three paper-like screen protectors I got for my iPad Pro 11.
